Things We Can Learn From Dogs

Dogs have many wonderful qualities. They’re cute, loyal, loving, dedicated, smart, and brave, among other things. While wisdom may not be one of the most prominent qualities attributed to our canine friends, that doesn’t mean they don’t have some lessons in store for us. Below, a Syracuse, UT veterinarian lists some things we can learn from Fido.

Enjoy Life’s Simple Pleasures

Our canine friends don’t need high-tech gadgets to have fun. Simply fetching a stick or splashing in a sprinkler can be pure bliss for Fido! This is a great lesson we can learn from Man’s Best Friend: sometimes life’s simple pleasures really are the best.

Show Your Loved Ones You Care

Dogs may not speak our language, but they can definitely make their feelings known. Fido can show his love and loyalty in many different ways, from hopping onto your lap, to doing the ‘happy dance’ of joy when you come home, to napping at your feet. That joyous tail wag alone speaks volumes! Take time to express your feelings to your loved ones.

Explore New Places

There are few things our canine pals enjoy more than sniffing a new patch of grass or exploring a new trail. Be sure to stretch your boundaries, and explore new places. You never know what’s waiting for you down a road you’ve never traveled!

Go For What You Want

We can’t, in good faith, actually advocate begging, as it is bad doggy manners. That said, there is something to be said for simply asking for what you want. If you’re eating a delicious steak, Fido won’t hesitate to make his wishes known, and it often ends up working out for him!

Be Loyal

Fido’s loyalty is one of his most outstanding traits. Dogs have shown amazing dedication to their masters, even going so far as to risk their own lives to save their human friends. Stand by those who are important to you!

Life Is Short. Live It To The Fullest

This may be Fido’s most poignant lesson. It’s a sad fact that dogs have shorter lifespans than we do, and the precious time we have with our canine friends can pass all too quickly. Live every day to the fullest.
